How it works
Your words. Straight to your AI.
Chat in AutoYou is a direct, encrypted pipeline from your device to your computer. There's no cloud service in the middle reading your messages or routing your tokens through a third-party AI API. Your AI runs on your machine — AutoYou just gets your words there.

Encrypted DataChannel delivery
The message travels over the WebRTC DataChannel — a direct, peer-to-peer, SCTP-encrypted connection to your computer. No routing through AutoYou's servers. No message content ever touches the cloud.

Response streams back instantly
Your AI generates its response on your own hardware and streams it back through the same encrypted connection. Tokens appear as fast as your model produces them — no batching, no waiting for completion.

Live typing indicator
“Agent is typing…”
While your AI is generating a response, a typing indicator appears in the chat view. This tells you the connection is alive and work is happening on your computer — especially useful for longer tasks that take a few seconds to begin streaming.
The indicator auto-dismisses when the first tokens arrive, or if the response completes with no further output.
Conversation management
New Conversation. Clean slate.
Hit New Conversation to reset the current session. This clears the server's context window — the AI starts fresh, without the history of the previous thread. Useful when switching between topics or when you want a response uninfluenced by earlier context.
A clear session marker appears in the chat log, so you always know where one conversation ended and the next began.
Interrupt at any time
Stop Talking. Instantly.
If your AI is mid-response and you've already got what you needed — or it's heading in the wrong direction — tap Stop Talking. The server halts generation, the voice pipeline (if active) stops speaking, and the connection stays open for your next message.
Voice transcription in chat
Spoken words, shown as text.
When Voice Call is active, your speech is transcribed on your computer and the transcription appears in the chat log alongside the AI's response. You get a full record of the conversation — what you said and what your AI replied — even when you never touched the keyboard.

The AutoYou desktop client.
The AutoYou desktop client brings the full chat experience to your Mac or Windows PC. It connects to your AutoYou server the same way the mobile app does — via an encrypted WebRTC peer-to-peer connection — and gives you a native desktop interface for everything: chat, voice calls, browser access, and session management.

More than just chat
The desktop client also includes voice call controls (start, end, mute, switch mic and speaker) and browser access buttons — open your server's web proxy in your system browser, or launch the AI agent frontends directly. All from one app.

AutoYou integrates natively with Ollama — the local AI model runner. Run LLaMA, Mistral, Gemma, Qwen, or DeepSeek on your own hardware and chat with them from your phone. No API key. No token cost. Complete privacy.

The main AutoYou server ships with specialist AI agents — Notes, Internet Search, Official Page, Admin, and Agent Builder. Your chat message routes to the right agent depending on what you're asking. You can also build your own agents by describing them in chat.

Whether you're on iPhone, Android, the macOS desktop client, or the Windows desktop client — the chat experience is the same. Real-time streaming, typing indicators, new conversation, stop talking, and full conversation history are all present on every platform. The server doesn't know or care which kind of client is connected.
This means you can start a conversation on your phone during your commute and continue it on your desktop at the office — or vice versa — by simply connecting from the other client. The conversation history on the screen is local to each session, but your AI's context window persists on the server until you reset it.
